OUR MISSION ...
Use what you have and work from there! It is may not be necessary to purchase new items, unless you'd like to. You'd be amazed at what can be achieved by decluttering, repurposing and rearranging for a more functional and aesthetically pleasing layout.
Stage to sell. If your house is for sale, staging your home is more important than you may think. You'd like potential buyers to imagine themselves in your home and we can make that happen by following a few simple steps and perhaps adding a wow factor to make your home look and feel more functional, cozy and luxurious.
Moving in? If you are buying a house or building a new one, we're happy to assist. This includes choosing paint colors, cabinetry, counter tops and light fixtures; purchasing and/or arranging furnishing, rugs and decorative items; and displaying art.
Outdoor living in South Carolina is just as important as indoor living. We turn your outdoor spaces into comfortable and inviting areas to entertain or just relax with your favorite book or beverage.
Our goal is to give your home a personal, timeless, and above all, customized feel that you will enjoy with family and friends for a lifetime.
Video Consultation is an effective way to receive professional advise without getting into a design agreement. We can offer advice on room layouts, colors, furniture and fixture choices, home staging, etc. This is ideal for those wanting guidance but are happy to do the work themselves. Here’s how it works: email or call to set up an appointment and give a brief outline of what you would like to address. You can show your spaces during the call or you can send pictures in advance (or both). The cost is $50 for a 30 minute consultation or $95 for one hour. Payment must be made in advance using PayPal, Venmo or Cash App.
MEET CAROLINE
Caroline Swart studied Interior Design through what is now the New York Institute of Art and Design.
She was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was involved in the travel and photographic safari industry, working at various high-end luxury lodges, including Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, Kirkman's Kamp, Mala Mala Private Game Reserve and Mombo Camp, in Botswana's Okavango Delta. It is here that she learnt about decorating from the professionals.
In 1997 Caroline and her husband moved from South Africa to the USA, living in Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Oregon and finally Aiken, South Carolina - for the weather and the horses! She worked at a lighting store before purchasing an African Fine Art Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho, drawing inspiration from the various art forms and travels to Africa to purchase furnishings and tribal art.
Caroline loves animals, is an avid reader and enjoys horse riding, photography, travel and, of course, decorating!
REVIEWS
"Caroline is the best interior designer I have worked with and I have used 3 well known designers before I met her and now I would'nt work with anybody else. She has worked with me on 3 homes and absolutely transformed them. My home in New England is a 17th century colonial farmhouse and was already furnished when I asked Caroline to help. She moved a lot of furniture around between rooms and we purchased some accessories at the local shops and the difference was really unbelievable. Friends came to the house afterwards and just could not believe how much better the house looked. And this was just from moving things around and buying a few items."
"We recently purchased a house on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia which came furnished but was not our style and Caroline helped us transform it into something beautiful. She quickly picks up on your style and finds incredible items at stores and online. We owned a property in South Carolina which we put on the market and she staged the house, guest cottage and apartment for potential buyers. She made rooms look and feel bigger and just enhanced everything for showing the property. I would highly recommend Caroline for any type of interior decorating - its a lot of fun to work with someone that is so passionate about what they do and can completely change a space!"
"Upon moving into our new home I needed help updating and arranging furnishings and artwork. After viewing Caroline's website I knew her style and ability to make a house feel comfortable and welcoming was exactly what I was looking for. After meeting and talking about what I hoped to achieve, Caroline was able to transform our foyer, family rooms and porches into beautiful spaces by using some existing and some new furnishing and unique accent pieces. I would not hesitate to use Caroline's expertise and talent in the future or recommend her!"
"I cannot say enough about the amazing transformation of my urban condominium. From what was a cold and sterile living space to one which is funky, chic, warm, cozy and oh so comfortable, CS Interiors made it happen!! I could not be happier! It’s absolutely gorgeous. CS Interiors has a wonderful sense of decorating taste in all things - art, accessories, fabric, color and furniture selection. This, combined with her incredible vision, created a wonderful home for me. Additionally, her communication and professionalism is arguably the best! Highly recommend!"

BEFORE & AFTER
The custom carpet was removed, ceiling fan replaced, round swivel chairs re-upholstered and other furnishing and artwork replaced with the homeowners own.
The style is now more modern and sophisticated but still relaxed and casual.
After
A butcher block countertop, white paint on the island cabinets, new pendant lights and new barstools changed the kitchen dramatically giving it more warmth, and highlighting the beautiful hardwood floors against the crisp white cabinetry.
After
Out with "Golden Girls" wicker and in with furniture groupings that compliment each other, and are handsome, durable and comfortable (one must be able to put down one's drink on an armrest!). Rugs and ceiling fans were also replaced. The homeowners opened up their view by removing the rose hedge and berm around the pond.
After
Cottage style checkered chairs are replaced with cool linen slipcovered straight-backed chairs for a clean look. The ornate wrought iron chandelier is replaced with an elegant Hubbarton Forge light fixture. The rug is removed to expose the gorgeous hardwood floors and not create a trip hazard.
